We are holding a Next One fashion show to raise funds. It will be held at The Stone House Hotel on 3 October at 7.30pm. The show will feature high street clothes at discounted prices and the ticket price includes a drink on entry, so come and enjoy a fun night and grab some great bargains!
Some of our volunteers recently completed an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. The course by the RLSS was delivered by Gez Hill from Chase Leisure Centre (Inspiring Healthy Lifestyles) and is accredited by Ofqual. The volunteers will all receive a certificate of their qualification which is valid for three years.
During a project carried out by NCS last year, the group raised money for Home-Start Stafford and District. NCS (National Citizen Service) is a scheme for 15 – 17 year olds, during which they take part in an outdoor residential, learn new skills and take part in a social action project. Pictured are some of our Home-Start volunteers receiving the first aid kits which we purchased with the money.
Home-Start Stafford and District would like to invite all our supporters to take part in the charity winter walk 2016, in partnership with Katherine House Hospice. The walk will take place on Sunday 4th December at 10am around Cannock Chase for a distance of 4 miles. You can register to walk online at http://www.wewalktogether.co.uk or by telephoning 01785 270808. Please select us as the charity that you would like to walk for and then we receive the registration fee.

The Snowflake Appeal was set up to support vulnerable children across the UK. Each Home-Start scheme in the country will be raising awareness and money to support their own local families. Home-Start Stafford and District will be running the appeal from 1 November 2015 – 31 January 2016.
A snowflake was chosen as the symbol of the appeal because each one is as unique as the children we support.
TV presenter Kirsty Allsopp is Ambassador for Home-Start. When talking about the Snowflake Appeal she says that it “raises vital fund for the amazing work that Home-Start does with vulnerable children and families. This is a fantastic organistaion and whether you volunteer, fundraise or make a donation there is no better thing to do for those children who won’t have a good start in life”

A big thank you to Stafford Rotary Club!
Home-Start Stafford and District have received a kind donation of £1,000 from the Stafford Rotary Club. This was raised at a concert featuring the Military Wives, where the money raised was divided between Katherine House and Home-Start. The money was presented to Rita Mather, the chair of Trustees by Mike Winkle, the President of Stafford Rotary at a meeting on 30 September 2015. The money was gratefully received and will enable us to do more valuable work with local families in the Stafford, Stone and surrounding areas.
