In 2016 – 2017 Home-Start Stafford and District supported 42 families, with 92 children between them in the Stafford Borough.
What our families say:
“You’ve done loads, you’ve gone above and beyond. We’re in a much better place now than when we first met”.
“My volunteer is the most reassuring person I have known. She has helped me so much and I feel that I would not have got to where I am now without her. She has not judged me which is so nice and has created so much positive feelings in my household”
“I have enjoyed every day spent with my volunteer and looked forward to seeing her. It has helped me with my anxiety and I have felt less lonely”
Home-Start Stafford and District really do make a difference to local families. We have helped families who were experiencing mental and physical health problems and isolation. We supported families to manage children’s behavioural issues, the day to day running of the home and budgeting.
Our Amazing Volunteers
We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing team of volunteers who give so much every week. We hope that our volunteers get lots from us too – they get together socially and we offer regular optional training sessions on areas of interest such as mental health, domestic violence and first aid training.
Some of our volunteers have moved into this area of work after volunteering with us and the experience of being with us has been useful in their work life.
” Volunteering at Home-Start will be a valuable asset on my CV when I graduate and has taught me invaluable life lessons on how to communicate and empathise effectively on a personal level. I have gained confidence in my ability to work within this sector. The fulfilment you feel when you achieve a goal with your family is extremely rewarding whether that be small milestones or gaining independency so they leave our services”
